Change fatigue, and why change management isn't working any more
Updated: Aug 28
When change never stops, you can't keep managing it like it will.

Is This For You?
“We just need to give the team some time to adjust.”
“Let’s bed this change down before we introduce anything else.”
“They’ve been through a lot. I don’t think they can handle another change right now.”
All completely reasonable things to say.
Except… what if the next change can’t wait?
Change management was built for a world where change had a beginning, a middle and an end.
Change is no longer something organisations occasionally go through. Increasingly, it’s the environment they operate in.
So perhaps the question isn’t:
“How do we make the change stop?”
Perhaps it’s:
“How do we help people function well when change doesn’t stop?”
That also changes what we ask of leaders.
Because change isn’t slowing down.
So maybe it’s time we stopped leading like it will.
